The Concept of Organic

No chemical fertilizers, pesticides or preservatives are used during the cultivation, production and packaging process of organic food. In addition, organic foods are not genetically modified to preserve the natural taste and nutrients of the food, also to ensure the food safety for the consumers.

How does chemical fertilizer damage the environment?

Utilizing chemicals such as chemical fertilizers, pesticides or preservatives will pollute the environment, disturb the ecosystem and affect the health of different organisms, including us, the human. Because these chemical substances may be dissolved in the irrigation water or in the rain, and run into the nearby river or sea; organisms living in these water may accumulate a high level of toxin in the body, or become sick easily. This can further affect human’s health, if we eat this polluted seafood.

What is Organic fertilizer?

Organic fertilizer (or compost) is a combination of organic waste matters, such as fallen leaves, animal remains and fecal... These matters slowly decompose in the soil and release plenty of nutrients for the crops to use. As crops received plenty and comprehensive amount of nutrients, they are able to grow healthly.

Organic Gardens utilize fully fermented organic matters as fertilizer, including bone meal, peanut bran and horse manure.

The benefits of using Organic fertilizers

Organic fertilizer does not damage the environment and gives the crops the nutrients that they need. It also helps to improve the soil structure by providing better drainage, air circulation in the soil, as well as water and nutrients retention; this creates an ideal condition for different creatures to live in the soil. The thick compost on top of the soil also helps to reduce soil erosion caused by the wind and rain.

Organic Agriculture

Besides using organic fertilizers, organic farming actually involves a comprehensive system, which includes pest management and crop rotation system. Not only is the final produces are of interest, the whole process from the production to being in the hands of consumers are all under monitored; and the process include: harrowing, sowing, irrigating, applying fertilizers, harvesting, handling, packaging, transportation and the overall management.
